The Sankranthi

After new year, my mind is fresh for the next big thing,. The Sankranti
Every year the fact that Sankranti was getting nearer, was known when you look at the sky and find it covered with all the kites flying way before the Sankranti. You feel good that Sankranti is getting nearer. At least I feel that way.
But no, this time it wasn’t like that. I guess people lost some interest in it! At least I lost. I did not even get the feeling, that, “Hey it’s Sankranti”. Even on that day. I was just forcefully convincing myself to believe that, “Hey its Sankranti and why aren’t you flying kites?”.

I still remember going to Charminar for kites and roaming around the streets of old city and around Nampally late at nights. I could feel the tension at that time because I saw the watch and it was already 10 and I was still in the old city! I thought that could be a thrilling adventure. “What if I don’t get the bus to my place?”. I was wandering around the streets of Nampally at around 12. It was exactly midnight! And thankfully I got the bus to my place.

Ok, so at least for the sake of flying I flew three kites which my uncle bought. There was a DJ around on Sankranti entertaining the one flying kites of our colony. Obviously it was MLA’s son who arranged that on the terrace of the apartment owned by him. Those songs were good and interesting to ponder with, except with the fact that he was repeatedly playing those Telugu deasi’s other than that was ‘sheela ki jawani ‘. He brought his girlfriend and her friends. They were dancing, smoking and chilling with lots of beers even the girls! All the aunties and uncles had there eyes posted on them, keeping them wide open. The entire colony was looking at them surprised by the way they danced infront of all.

Finally the Sankranti was over, but there were no hurries. Except with the fact that my mother prepared some food items which tried to make me feel, it’s a special day.

Sankranti passed by and now I am looking for the next big thing.
Hey I’ll go check out the calendar. Till then,
Bye and See you,.
